Whole Foods? Dean and DeLuca? Randy Gerber, Malibu restaurant? New Legacy Park at Cross Creek with lagoons? PCH Medians getting landscaped?
So many rumors/truths and new energy it is hard to know what exactly is happening here in the quaint, low key town of Malibu. Recently, Malibu residents felt the loss of our only Blockbuster, Champagne Bakery, Granita of WolfGang Puck, Malibu Lumber, Cosentino's Florist and now Planet Blue Kids and 9026Eyes. Cosentino's, by the way, was replaced by Ralph Lauren. The locally owned hotels, Malibu Beach Inn and Casa Malibu were both bought by David Geffen and Larry Ellison, respectively. The Malibu Beach Inn is currently under construction and expected to open in May 2007. The rooms, and rates, for that matter are going to be superior to anything Malibu has ever seen.
One thing is for sure...change is happening. There are more billionaires shaping the future of Malibu then we understand. If you don't own property, now is the time to buy and hold. The public has yet to seen the overall vision of this beach village, and there are mixed feelings about the direction the city is headed. What is your take?
